Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Before & After

This is the first in my new series of foundation reviews!  This was a regular feature on my blog back in the day (you can have a browse at previous ones here) and I’m so happy to bring it back because I’m sure there are a lot of girls who, like me, are on the hunt for their holy grail foundation!  Not only that, but I’m also super pale and so finding products pale enough can be tricky, so hopefully this will help some of you pale babes out there too.

I’m starting the series off with the newest foundation in my collection – Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation!  I tried this many years ago but had a shade which was far too dark for me (Ecru) but they’ve since released a huge selection of new colours and I was so happy to find one suitable for my skin tone!

Like my old reviews, I’m going to be reviewing foundations based on the following 6 categories!

COLOUR – The colour range for Doublewear has been extended greatly (now 54 shades) since the last time I tried it and I couldn’t be happier about this.  I went into store to get colour matched and discovered that I’m 1N0 Porcelain and this isn’t even the palest shade (which I normally am), which goes to show how good the colour range is.

COVERAGE – This has a medium but build-able coverage which airbrushes the skin and evens out any redness or pigmentation (as you can see in the before & after pictures above).  I have a lot of redness around my nose and found that by just buffing a bit of extra product into these areas with a concealer brush did the job perfectly without the need for extra concealer.

FORMULA/FINISH – I originally thought this foundation would feel really cakey & thick on the skin because of its coverage but I’ve been really pleasantly surprised.  Despite being a thick liquid formula, it has a gorgeous dewy finish on the skin.  It’s been VERY hot in London over the past month but this is still the product I’m reaching for, which I think says a lot!

I also think this has great staying power, again it’s outlasted sweat and heat on the London underground and my base is still going strong well into the evening.  What I would say is, despite feeling light on the skin, it is quite noticeable that you are wearing product, but I think that’s expected!

PRICE – This retails at £33.50 but you can find it at Debenhams and John Lewis currently for £28.47.  It’s pricey, but you don’t need much to get a nice base so I think it’d last you a while!

SPF – Contains SPF 10 which is ok, but I’d still recommend wearing your daily high SPF underneath.

WHAT I THINK:

This has become my most reached for foundation over the past few weeks.  Not only do I love the way it looks on my skin, but I’ve also had lots of compliments on how good my skin is looking whilst wearing it.  I’d be really interested to see how it wears throughout the colder winter months with drier skin, so maybe I’ll update this post at the end of the year.

Have you tried Double Wear? Would you like more foundation reviews?

I am glad that this brand works for you , I had a bad experience with customer service at an Estée Lauder counter when I was looking for an eye cream , I purchased one and it was expensive and when it burned my skin and I brought it back the lady was really mean to me and acted like it was my fault that their products burned my skin and she told me that I was too young to be using their product but my theory was they shouldn’t have sold it to me if it was not age-appropriate for my skin so I do not buy Estée Lauder products anymore however I have visited their headquarters when I was in college at the fashion Institute of technology and it is a pretty cool. The truth is the Estee Lauder corporation owns half of the cosmetic industry anyway unfortunately so you just really can’t avoid them

Want to try this out so bad but I'm afraid it will break me out. One day maybe I'll be brave enough to try it out. Thanks for the review.

This looks awesome. But to pricey for me. I use make-up everyday this wouldn't last long for me at all. Really sucks because the results looks beautiful. Really like it a lot!

I would Really love to try this, I have some of the same problems with foundation maybe not for the same reason as you though. I have the hardest time finding a foundation that doesn't accentuate the wrinkles around my eyes( which once your over 50 is ineveable) I do lots of moisturizing, lots of skin care. But sometimes onces you put on some foundations they magnify those wrinkles. Or 2 hrs later everything settles in those wrinkles. It's awful. I finally found a primer that works for me, this I just got Becca Ultimate Coverage 24 hour foundation. 😢 sadly it just doesn't look right. The shade is light enough in LINEN but it doesn't seem buildable, and it shows or magnifies those lies and I'm so sad😢. It help putting my concealer ( PrettyVulgar - pretty white lies) over those areas but not what I wanted. I'm wondering if the the Estee Lauder Double Wear would be The One! Finding the right foundation really is a Struggle. Its so hard!! I love these foundation reviews Thank You because its hard to find out the real facts unless you buy it- so this is excellent!!!

Love the coverage and that it’s not cakey. Interested in how it does with dry skin!

I get acne issues and never really find a foundation that helps cover it as well as this did for you. It was the perfect cover up and looks so smooth. And i love the fact that it comes in so many shades. I always have problems finding the perfect shade when some brands dont have very many. Thanks for the review and you look amazing lady. Keep on shining.
