Get a Lit-From-Within Glow with Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

The weather’s getting warmer, which means I wish I had a tan! Luckily, bronzers exist.  Here’s my review of the Murumuru Butter Bronzer from Physician’s Formula – read more to find out if it looks as heavenly as it smells!
The weather is getting warmer, but I’m still hella pale.  Like… Edward Cullen levels of pale.  Luckily, I can fake a little bit of a healthier complexion with the aid of bronzer!
As the years went on and people started figuring out that bronzer ≠ all over face powder, I think more companies started coming out with bronzers that were less orange, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten a bit braver, and discovered that not all bronzers are evil!
Today I’ll be doing a product review on the Physician’s Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer in the shade “Light Bronzer.”  At $14.95, this is a little bit pricier in terms of a drugstore brand, but Physician’s Formula products in general are typically a bit on the higher end for price points.

If you’ve read any of my other product reviews (I think I’ve only done 2 so far, actually…), you’ll know I like to review products based on the claims made on the packaging, as well as other general things I look for in the type of product.  For bronzers, I generally consider pigmentation, finish, tone (as in too orange or not), blendability, texture, longevity, and just for fun, packaging.
For product claims, the Physician’s Formula website says the following (I’ve bolded the words I think are important ~claim words~ and what I’ll be commenting on later in my review):
🌞Ultra-luxurious bronzer, infused with Murumuru Butter, delivers a radiant Brazilian goddess glow! Moisturizing wonder features ultra-refined pearl and soft-focus pigments that smooth skin texture, brighten skin tone and deliver a gorgeous bronze finish.
🌻Ultra-rich bronzer formula instantly melts into skin, sealing-in moisture to deliver instant and lasting hydration. Incredibly creamy and soft texture combines the best features of a powder and cream bronzer, to deliver a lit-from-within tropical glow unlike any other.
✨Infused with a powerful blend of Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter, from the lush and nutrient-rich Amazon. Packed with essential fatty acids and pro-vitamins that soften, condition and moisturize skin, leaving it silky soft.
Featuring unique sponge applicator specially designed to be used with creamy bronzer formula.
Pigmentation | Rating: B

I wouldn’t say that this is the most intense bronzer I’ve ever tried, so I’ve given it a ‘B’ rating.  That being said, I kind of like being able to build up bronzers instead of them being super pigmented on the first go because I find that makes them easier to blend, plus I’m not that into bronzers, so I’d say that pigmentation-wise, this particular one is right up my alley.  I guess it’s just personal preference!
Finish | Rating: A
I’d say the finish on this is pretty spot-on in terms of the words I’ve bolded above in the claims, which were:
😇Goddess glow
😎Bronze finish

This bronzer definitely gives a nice, brightening finish, and even though “lit-from-within” is something I have only really seen as being used to describe highlights, this bronzer still somehow makes you look a bit glowy (although not Edward Cullen levels of glowy, thank God).
Something I’m not sure is too accurate from the claims is the whole “bronze finish” thing.  I’ll talk about this more in my next point below on Tone, but I wouldn’t exactly describe the color on this as being bronze.
Tone | Rating: B+

To try to better describe the tone here, I’ve decided to compare the Butter Bronzer with two other bronzers I own: another Physician’s Formula one, the Bronze Booster in Medium to Dark, as well as Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil in Medium/Deep.

Color-wise, the Butter Bronzer is obviously lighter, which is not surprising given the fact that the other two are in medium shades while the Butter Bronzer is in the light shade, but you can see that while I would describe the Bronze Booster as having a “bronze finish,” I would just describe the Butter Bronzer as giving sort of a “glowing warmth.”
I’m giving this a ‘B+’ in terms of Tone because I think it falls short on the whole “bronze” thing, yet I still do enjoy the tone of it as it’s warm without being orange.
Texture | Rating: A
As the name suggests, this feels very buttery.  As the website says, it definitely has a “creamy and soft texture” – not really sure what else to say here!
Blendability | Rating: A
Because of how smooth this is, it really does “melt” into the skin as the website claims.  I like using a Real Techniques Blush Brush to put this on the perimeter of my face and a tarte Swirl Power Contour & Bronzer Brush to put this right under my cheek bones.
Longevity | Rating: B
I think one of the reasons this doesn’t last that long on me is just because even though I’m at my winter-pale, this still isn’t too much darker than my skintone, so it fades a lot quicker than a darker shade, such as the Too Faced one, does.  It’s also not a matte finish, which also tends to last longer on me.
I also think that since this does “melt” into my skin, it might just continue to do that throughout the day.  Again, this isn’t really that big of a deal to me because even though the color may fade a bit, it still leaves that glowy warmth that makes me look not as dead as usual.
I think this bronzer is a great drugstore option for anybody who’s looking to warm up their complexion a bit without taking the express lane straight into Loompaland.  It feels really nice both in the pan and on the skin and although it doesn’t provide any moisture like the website claims, I’m not too mad about that since I don’t look for that particular quality in a bronzer anyway.

I am very pale skinned too and I love love this bronzer, you're absolutely right about it not turning orange as some do. I dont see the lit from within part, but it is very creamy and buildable which I love. and it does seem to fade on me as well. I wonder if it does that to everyone? Great review girly
