TATCHA - The Rice Wash & My Cleansing Routine

For centuries, Japanese women included rice as an essential part of their daily diet and beauty ritual for clear, bright, and dewy skin. It was customary to use the milky water from the first wash of rice to soften, smooth, and moisturize the face, body, and hair.
Did you know that?! I sure didn't... And seeing how their skin is always so flawless, they must know what they are talking about! Therefore, when I was chosen to be a tester for the Tatcha The Rice Wash Cleanser, I was so excited! Clear, bright, dewy, smooth, and moisturized skin?! Who doesn't want that?!

About the product:
-For normal to dry skin.
-Japanese rice extracts soften and boost luminosity.
-Hyaluronic acid and ceramics-rich algae hydrate skin.
-pH-neutral amino acid-base gently cleanses.

My review:
๐Ÿ˜‰My Skin: My face day to day is normal to dry, sensitive, red, and with occasional hormonal acne.
๐ŸšApplication: The directions didn't really specify how much of the product to use, so I used a dime to a nickel-sized amount.
First off, let me say that this cleanser smells amazing! I'm not sure of the scent, but it's mild and pleasant. I added some warm water onto my face and started to rub on the cleanser. It had a very different texture than any other cleanser I have used: it was a bit more thick and sticky, and slightly grainy. Here's my face with it all over!
๐ŸงฝOnce I had it applied all over my face, I used my trusty Konjac sponge (damp with warm water) to help remove the cleanser. (The konjac sponge works to gently exfoliate your skin, sloughing away dead skin cells, giving skin a smooth, glowy complexion.)
Once I had it all removed off of my face, my face did indeed feel smooth, soft, hydrated, and refreshed (and that was even before any of my other skincare)! It didn't irritate my sensitive face, or any of the acne on my chin.
๐ŸŒŸLastly, here's a comparison picture of before and after use!

Thanks for reading!

Great review! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’• I especially like the story you included in the beginning. I had no idea that women in Japan used to use rice water as a beauty product! Since pesticides are a thing now ๐Ÿ˜ฌ, I wouldnโ€™t feel good about using rice water in my beauty routine, but itโ€™s good to know in case I ever buy organic rice in the future. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿš

Great review ๐Ÿ‘. You were very thorough and explained every step in your facial cleansing. I don't think this is the right cleanser for me. For now, I think I will keep using my Pond's Cleansing Cream. Thanks for sharing..

Iโ€™ve never tried Tatcha. Thanks for the review. I didnโ€™t know that about the traditional use of rice water, either. Iโ€™ve heard excellent things about Tatcha though.

Amazing review! It seems like a good product to use, but I don't think it's suitable for my skin type. I have oily and acne prone skin and the mask usage has worsened my face.

I have sensitive and slight dry skin, so this cleanser seems like it would be perfect for me. I've never used a konjac sponge, but it seems like its really great with this wash! Is it harsh on the face though?

Of course this applies to a particular skin type to keep going. TATCHA must pass for sensitive skin. Great direction and instructing a good cleanse. Liked your written review for this product.

  • Rukhsana

i have the perfect needs for this face wash as its a very natural based wash, i heard rice water is good for dull, tired and blemish prone skin. will love to try and review over time as results progress.
